BRAD VICKERS & THE VESTAPOLITANS - COUCH KID NEW MUSIC

Brad and the band have new music, and the album is called That’s What They Say and it is a collection of songs that explore the roots of the music even deeper than they have in the past, both in sound and in material. Brad, Margey and I talked about the making of the album and what has been going on with the band since his last visit in June 2013, and what is on the horizon.

The Rev brings his own brand of irreverence to his music and on his latest release, Hillbilly Zen-Punk Blues, he brings it hard. Recorded in Williamsburg, Brooklyn Freakchild enlisted the talents of world famous musicians.  He and I discussed his journey and where the road is leading while we checked out tunes.

THE BEAT DADDYS - Segment Begins At The 1:34:16 Mark

The Beat Daddys formed in 1986 and have spent the last 30 years bringing their blend of roots music to audiences around the world.  I chatted with Larry & Tommy about their partnership, the struggles they faced over the years, making the IBC last year and much more while we checked out tunes from their new album, Hoodoo That We Doo.

DAMON FOWLER - WORLD PREMIER - COUCH KID NEW MUSIC

Damon returned to Couch Kid New Music with his new album Live 2015.  The album has not even been released wide and we will get to share some of the tunes with you as Damon and I discuss his last year and the plans for 2016. And then Damon announces no other meadia outlet has received the album yet, so...WORLD PREMIER!

DAVID GOGO

David is a Canadian blues guitarist, singer-songwriter and bandleader. Between 1994 and 2014, he released 12 solo albums. His latest release is entitled Vicksburg Call and David and I explored his life and his music while listening to the new album.

WENDY DEWITT with KIRK HARWOOD - COUCH KID NEW MUSIC

Good friends Wendy DeWitt and Kirk Harwood came back to The Couch with their most excellent new album, Getaway.  The duo, who we last saw on the IBC Final stage, have brought in some friends to help out, but as always this is about the dynamics between Wendy and Kirk and how it can fill a room.  We talked about the making of the album, what Wendy & Kirk are planning for 2016 and more.

WEBB WILDER - Segment Begins At The 1:34:00 Mark

Webb can sing you a song, or play a detective in a movie. And he does them both with a wiry grin.  Wilder has released Mississippi Möderne (he pronounces it Mo-Durn), his 10th album.  Webb was a great guest and the laughs were many as he told of his journey and we listened to his music.

AL BASILE

Al has worked with the Duke Robillard Band as a songwriter and recording member since 1990, appearing on twelve CDs and a DVD. He has been nominated five times, in 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, and now 2016 for a Blues Music Award as best horn player. His new album is B’s Expressions and Al and I were able to talk about his incredible career as a musican and more.

MURRAY KINSLEY & WICKED GRIN - Segment Begins At The 44:15 Mark

Wicked Grin is an Ottawa based original roots rock/blues band. Their sophomore album, Shame On Me, was released to critical acclaim and wide-spread airplay in North America. In 2014 the band won the Maple Blues Award for New Artist of the Year. Shame On Me was named Best Canadian Blues Rock Album of 2014 by The Blues Underground Network. They have a new album out entitled Stormy Water and I was joined by Murray and bassist Leigh-Anne Stanton to talk about their individual journeys and how they came together and the path for Wicked Grin.

DICK LE MASTERS - COUCH KID NEW MUSIC

JONN DEL TORO RICHARDSON - COUCH KID NEW MUSIC

Jonn joined me twice in 2013.  The first time from Europe with Sean Carney to talk about their album Drivin' Me Wild, and then by himself to discuss his career while we listened to songs from past albums on which he had appeared.  Well now, Jonn has a new album, Tengo Blues, his debut!  He and I talked about finally going into the studio for his debut, the songs on the album and much more.

Peter has written thousands of album and show reviews over the years, with an emphasis on Blues music. In 2011, the site was honored with the Keeping The Blues Alive Award.

TERRIE ODABI

Out of the Oakland bay area and is a member of The Golden Gate Blues Society.  She has represented the society in Memphis the last two years and lit up the stages with her soul-stirring performances.  We were able to preview a song from Terrie’s upcoming album ”My Blue Soul”

The discussion touched on a number of items.  The good happening in the Blues today, where things should change, the youth and the future of the Blues, streaming music and it's good and bad, the multiple genres and why there are so many and so much more.
