EARL THOMAS

From being the first African-American baby born in the Bledsoe County Hospital in Pikesville, TN to traveling the world with his military dad, to almost dying in an accident where he fell off a cliff, the history of Earl Thomas is found in his music and in his words.
What a fantastic talk I had with Earl.  He is a funny guy, has so much passion for what he does and  is serious about Raising The Roof! Find out why he stopped performing in public after a sixth grade show, until he returned to singing at 23 years old!

BAD INFLUENCE BAND -  Segment Begins At The 1"00:39 Mark

The Bad Influence Band is Michael Tash, Roger Edsel, Bob Mallardi and David Thaler and they have been playing the Blues since 1998. They have been honored with numerous Wammie Award nominations. I sat with Michael and Roger and discussed their lives and careers and how the band has stayed together all these years. The guys are funny and you can tell they enjoy each other. We listened to music from their latest album, Under The Influence.

LISA BIALES - COUCH KID NEW MUSIC - Segment Begins At The 1:45:25 Mark

Lisa Biales first came and Sat On The Couch on September 24th, 2012 to discuss her career and music.  Tonight, she came back to feature her latest album, Singing In My Soul, featuring Ricky Nye and The Paris Blues Band.  The album is a collection of songs from the early part of the 20th century and features Lisa's takes on W.C. Handy, Sister Rosetta Tharpe and others.

FRANK BANG

Frank Bang spent 5 years touring with Buddy Guy, has played on stage with Eric Clapton, Dave Matthews and Carlos Santana to name a few. He released 4 albums, and then took time off to raise his family. Now he and his band Secret Stash are back making music. Frank joined me and we talked about his life and career.  Did you know what sport Frank played that might have kept him from becoming a musician?  he discussed meeting a famous musician who sent him heading back to his native Chicago to find 'the real blues'...and we listened to music from his latest album,  Double Dare.

STERLING KOCH - Segment Begins At The 52:40 Mark

Sterling Koch is a nationally recognized lap steel guitarist who is a touring/recording solo artist and session musician. Sterling specializes in playing Chicago-style, slide guitar blues in a contemporary style on the lap steel guitar. His latest album, Let It Slide is a collection of some sweet music. He and I sat and discussed his early career where he was a stand-up rocking guitarist, who played in a multitude of bands before settling back in his home town in Pennsylvania.   We talked about how he had to give up the guitar due to health issues and how the lap-steel came into his life.

SENA EHRHARDT - Segment Begins At The 1:36:47 Mark

Sena Ehrhardt grew up in Minnesota with a blues-loving, guitar-playing dad, so it is no surprise when she followed in his footsteps into music. Her first album, Leave The Light On, earned her a Blues Music Award Nomination for Best Debut Artist. Her second album, All In, was just released and it shows the growth she has gained in her songwriting, playing and singing. I sat with Sena and we talked about how she developed her love of the blues and her desires moving forward. You will also find out why Sena had to wait until after she graduated from college to follow her love of song.

KEATON SIMONS - COUCH KID NEW MUSIC - Segment Begins At The 2:18:55 Mark

Keaton Simons joined me back in June of 2012 to discuss his debut album. His new album Beautiful Pain was just released and he is bringing it to The Couch with him. This young man plays music of different genres, but it all falls under the Good Music label. We talked about the recording of this album, where Keaton is heading over the next months and we heard tracks from the new album.

HILDA LAMAS

Hilda Lamas began singing at the age of 4 and continued to do so in social settings. While in college getting her degree in Biology, music again came calling and this time Hilda answered.
I sat with Hilda and we traced her history from where she began, singing in that church at age 4 to today. We also had a chance to listen to songs from her latest album, Love Me Alone.
